Last year the Diocesan Convention Eucharist was held at St. Peter’s Church on October 26th at 6 pm. Attendance was overwhelming with over 300 people in the nave, and many others in an overflow area. A Dixie land band played upbeat music before the Service. The band continued to play “When the Saints go marching in” as Bishop Franklin and clergy processed up the center aisle into the chancel. The 2018 Diocesan Convention was significant in that it was Bishop Franklin’s last Convention. Franklin will be retiring as Bishop of the Diocese of Western New York, in April 2019, when he will “Pass the Crozier” to Bishop Sean Rowe, who heads the Episcopal Diocese of Erie, and was elected Provisional Bishop for the Diocese of Western New York at this Convention.
